RE: In- person learning

Dear Firestone Park Students and Family Members,

Welcome to March. March is a great month. In March we celebrate Women’s History Month, St. Patrick’s Day and the reopening of in-person learning at Akron Public Schools. I am excited  about all of the celebrations but most importantly, the return of some of our Firestone Park  Student Leaders to in-person learning.

 Safety:

Akron Public Schools is following all CDC safety protocols. Ms. Curry and Mrs. Jones will  host grade level parent meetings to share these safety practices. All staff and students will be  trained in safety expectations and guidelines. Please check your child’s temperature before  sending to school. If your child is ill, please keep your child at home for the day

 Arrival:

Breakfast will be served to all students at 8:10 a.m. We are requesting that students arrive at  8:10 a.m. There will be no supervision before this time. The instructional school day will begin  at 8:30 a.m. Students are expected to wear masks as they enter the building. We will follow the  CDC guidelines and continue social distancing ( 3ft-6ft ) to the greatest extent as possible.  Students will sanitize their hands prior to eating breakfast. As you drop off your students please  allow your child to exit your car safely. For your child’s safety all students should cross at the  corner not in the middle of the street. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

 Chromebooks:

*Students are to bring their chromebooks daily as online lessons will continue in person-.  Learning. Please continue to supervise all use of your child’s computer use. Help your child  keep your computer sanitary and safe.

 Virtual Meetings:

To keep your child safe, all parent meetings will be virtual at this time. Please contact the school  office at 330-761-1517 prior to dropping off materials for your child. Parents are requested to  call the school prior to coming to the building. All guests are required to wear masks per  Governor Dewine. The SIP team will plan an outside parent

event.

 Dress Code:

Your child is permitted to dress out of school uniform through the 2020-2021 school  year.

 Dismissal:

Your child will be escorted from the school building in a safety line by the classroom  teacher. If your child is walking will be dismissed to walk home once outside. If you are  picking your child up, please walk to your child’s teacher to pick up your child. Please  see the dismissal doors. The dismissal line will be modeled after our Fire Drill Line.
